After the success of the 2019 edition in Mexico City, Latamcan returns to Sao Paulo from March 4 to 6, 2020.
With more than 500 attendees and 100 companies exhibiting their technological advances, systems, products and supplies, Latamcan 2019 was a resounding success. The program of technical presentations was very varied and was divided into two separate rooms, one for the 2-piece aluminium audience and another room for the 3-piece steel audience.

For this new opportunity, Latamcan offers in addition to the technical presentations and exhibition hall, which operates under the “table top” scheme, two technical forums with question and answer periods.
The forum for the 3-part audience will address metal printing, its problems and solutions. Among the topics to be covered we can mention: Color, reasons why printed colors do not match the Pantone standard, variations during print runs and problems with the substrate. Additionally, the topic of conventional versus UV curing will be discussed and the five most common problems in metal printing, what they are and their solutions will be reviewed. To conclude, new developments available in the market for inks and coatings, digital printing, package shapes and sizes, as well as the challenges to be overcome in the coming years will be presented.
The forum for 2-piece container manufacturers will focus on the reduction of aluminium can thickness, which is still a global topic of interest, but with different requirements and needs depending on the region or country. Some of the aspects to consider are: conversion costs, packer requirements, axial load, technologies currently used by packers, infrastructure in each country and current can sizes. This leads us to consider and define very well some particular details of our processes such as: actual aluminum thickness, tooling design both in the cup press as well as in the body formers and binders, general design of the can, among others. We will then discuss how our industry is responding to this challenge and conclude with a question and answer session.
