Ecofood2023: 58 Spanish companies join forces in 12 agri-food technology projects

 

A total of 58 companies from six autonomous communities -Valencia, Catalonia, Murcia, Galicia, Castilla-La Mancha and Aragon- are grouped around EcoFood2021:

Tractor Project of the Agri-Food Sector 2021-2023 with a budget of 417 million euros and aimed at innovation throughout the value chain, the digital and ecological transition, and training actions to raise the skills of the workforce.

The initiative that expects to have the additional reinforcement of 200 million European funds aims to increase the competitiveness of the fruit and vegetable and livestock chain, the food processing chain, the cold chain, packaging and recycling, so that these advances represent a renewal of the agri-food production model.

Among the specific projects that can be developed with these investments are, among others, the development of agricultural devices and sensors to improve the productivity and performance of farms; the recovery of traditional varieties; the development of beverages with lower content of sugars, fats, gluten-free and lactose-free; the development of non-polluting biodegradable packaging that maintain intact the properties and characteristics of the food or the generation of new solutions for the cold chain.

ECOFOOD2023 is a project born from the alliance of the agri-food sector to mark a complete renewal in the entire value chain, through the ecological and digital transformation betting on the development of innovation projects.

Among the 58 companies promoting the project are Auxiliar Conservera, Nuova Sesac, Agroal, San Alfonso, Frutinter, Liasa, Hinojosa Packaging Solutions, ITV Ice Makers, Frtost-Trol and Urbaser, as well as 4 technology centres, including IBV and Tecnalia.
