A product recall has been issued for certain batches of Coca-Cola Original due to contamination concerns, after plastic remnants were detected in some cans.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) classified the recall as “Class II”, indicating that consumption could cause mild or reversible adverse health effects, although the risk of serious consequences is low.

The recall affects approximately 864 cases of 12-ounce cans, presented in 12-packs, distributed in Illinois and Wisconsin. These beverages were produced by Reyes Coca-Cola Bottling, based in Milwaukee. For now, the measure is limited to those two states.

According to a company spokesperson, the recall is voluntary and is in response to the product not meeting their quality standards. They assured that the company prioritizes the safety and quality of its beverages.

Although the FDA has not issued specific instructions for consumers, it is recommended not to consume the affected product and to return it to the establishment where it was purchased for a refund.
