United Airlines has introduced its new canned wine menu for domestic economy class, which expands choices for customers, including a new rosé option and a brut wine with bubbles available exclusively onboard United flights. Since October 1, passengers have been able to enjoy premium canned wines from women-owned brands, including Maker Wine.

According to United, the airline has served more than 20 million glasses of wine systemwide so far this year (that’s 1.5 times the number of servings of beer or spirits) and more than 3.2 million glasses of wine in domestic economy class alone.

Now, United’s domestic economy class passengers will be able to choose from four different varieties of wine on board, each available in a 250 ml can (equivalent to one and a half glasses of wine). Just Enough Wines offers its varieties in Rosé, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. Maker Wine has opted for a sparkling white from California’s Central Coast.

United switches from miniature plastic bottles to canned wine as consumer demand for canned wine grows. This transition to aluminum canned wine will reduce the use of single-use plastic bottles by approximately 4.7 million bottles per year. Aluminum is infinitely recyclable and supports United’s commitment to sustainability at all altitudes, including in-flight recycling.
