AkzoNobel has completed a significant investment project at its production plant in Vietnam’s Bac Ninh province, located near Hanoi. This action aims to strengthen the company’s presence in Asia and enhance its focus on more sustainable production.
In addition, five additional powder coating lines have been added to the industrial complex, as well as a new line for the manufacture of water-based products for sale in the market for everyday electronic devices such as computer technology, wireless devices and household appliances. This upgrade has involved a total investment of close to 18.5 million euros.

General Manager of AkzoNobel’s Powder Coatings business, Jeff Jirak, said the implementation of the new powder coating lines will allow them to grow with their customers and provide faster service. In addition, this will contribute to a more sustainable future for the company.
“The increased capacity at the site will allow us to focus on supporting volume growth in the northern part of the country, while our Dong Nai facility covers the southern part of Vietnam. It means we can now focus on optimizing our manufacturing processes to meet the diverse needs of the Vietnamese market.”

As part of its plan to halve its carbon emissions by 2030, AkzoNobel has implemented a number of improvements to its consumer electronics production process. These improvements include the construction of an automated warehouse and the implementation of advanced technology to increase productivity and efficiency. In addition, they have introduced a new line of water-based products that will help reduce emissions throughout the supply chain.

According to Maximilien Schréder, global head of AkzoNobel’s Consumer Electronics business, the company can now provide the most advanced water-based technology to its Vietnam-based multinational customers, which include major Asian electronics brands. This innovation is significant progress in terms of reducing customers’ overall carbon footprint.

The addition of new lines in Bac Ninh is the latest in a series of investments in the South Asia region, following recent capacity expansions in Pakistan, Thailand and Australia.
