Tubex achieves its SBTi approved emission reduction goals

TUBEX Aluminum Tubes succeeded in achieving its Science Based Targets (SBTi) approved short-term emission reduction targets, an important milestone in our sustainability roadmap.

Specifically, the world’s leading manufacturer of aluminum tubes announced that the Science Based Targets (SBTi) initiative has assessed and approved its short-term reduction targets for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across the group.

In doing so, TUBEX Aluminum Tubes is committed to reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by a minimum of 42% by 2030 from the base year 2020. It also commits to reduce absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by a minimum of 42% over the same time period.

“SBTi’s endorsement of our GHG reduction targets underscores our commitment to take serious and transparent action on climate and support sustainable development. We have decided to engage with SBTi to be in line with the latest climate science and provide our stakeholders with transparency and accountability in the terminology we use to describe our targets. We are very pleased to lead the way as the first aluminum tube manufacturer worldwide to be validated by SBTi,” said Thierry Bitout, CEO of the group.

TUBEX launched its climate strategy in 2022. The roadmap is designed around three key areas: eco-design, a 1.5°C pathway and circularity. Each area has a list of priority steps that we will take over the next eight years, both in our own operations and throughout our supply chain.

The Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) is a collaboration between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). SBTi defines and promotes best practices in science-based target setting, provides resources and guidance to reduce barriers to adoption, and independently evaluates and approves company targets.
