Following the growing demand for aluminum cans globally, Ball Corporation has announced that it will expand its operations in South America. Specifically, it will enter Peru with a new production plant located in the city of Chilca. The operation will have a production capacity of more than 1 billion beverage cans per year and will start operations by the end of 2023.

“Peru is a country that has been registering a considerable increase in the consumption of beverages in cans in recent years,” says Fauze Villatoro, commercial vice president of the Beverage Packaging Division for South America, who adds that “through this investment, we will be able to respond to the market in a more solid way and be closer to our customers in the country, always with the most sustainable alternative in the beverage industry”.

The announced investment will enable the company to better meet the growing demand for aluminum containers in Peru and neighboring countries. In an area of 95,000 square meters, Ball’s operation will employ more than 100 people directly and 300 indirectly, thanks to the investment destined to the manufacture of aluminum cans in different sizes.

Finally, Ball Corporation is headquartered in Colorado and is a leading supplier of innovative and sustainable aluminum packaging for beverages, personal care and household products, as well as aerospace solutions and other technologies. Globally, it employs more than 24,000 people and has 15 plants in South America, located in Brazil, Chile, Argentina and Paraguay.
