ORBIS ANNOUNCES THE WINNER OF THE PLANT OF THE YEAR 2021

ORBIS plant in Silao, Mexico, receives annual award for outstanding safety performance and operating efficiency and operational efficiency

OCONOMOWOC, Wisconsin. – May 3, 2021 – ORBIS® Corporation – an international leader in reusable packaging – recently named its Silao, Mexico plant its Plant of the Year 2021. This annual award at ORBIS honors one of its plants for its performance in safety, quality, service, innovation and overall operational efficiency.

This plant, located in the central Mexican state of Guanajuato, employs more than 350 associates and provides automotive, food, beverage and consumer goods companies with reusable packaging such as containers, customized interiors and pallets to move their products safely, efficiently and more cost-competitively than single-use packaging. The Silao plant has received this distinction twice, the first time being in 2019.

“I am excited to share that the Silao plant has had no recordable accidents for more than 1,000 days and achieved outstanding workplace quality and efficiency in 2021,” said Todd Mathes, executive vice president of operations for ORBIS. “This top-performing plant consistently exemplifies success through a deep dedication to safety, a committed culture and an unwavering duty to customer satisfaction.”

The Silao plant, one of 14 ORBIS manufacturing facilities considered for the award, won Plant of the Year in 2021 for its strong performance in workplace safety, customer service and quality, as well as operational excellence. During 2021, Silao set new records in safety, sales and labor efficiency.
