Anheuser-Busch just launched a new carbohydrate-free beer ahead of Super Bowl LVI, called Bud Light NEXT, along with the brand’s first non-fungible token (NFT) project. It is a collection of unique tokens, the holders of which will have access to exclusive benefits.
Almost a decade in the making, the carbohydrate-free light beer will hit U.S. stores on February 7, just in time for the quintessential American sporting event. While a variety of reduced carbohydrate beers exist, with the launch of Bud Light Next, Anheuser-Busch becomes the first major brewer to offer a zero-carbohydrate beverage in the United States.
Bud Light Next is a super light 80-calorie, 4% alcohol by volume beer in a 12-ounce metal container. In comparison, a traditional Bud Light has 110 calories and 4.2% ABV. While a variety of reduced-carbohydrate beers exist, with the launch of Bud Light Next, Anheuser-Busch becomes the first major brewer to offer a zero-carbohydrate beverage in the United States.
With this new launch, the brewery would be responding to the changing dietary habits of consumers that are reflected in the current trends of low-carbohydrate beverages and foods. Bud Light calls, “the next generation of light beer for the next generation of beer drinkers,” says Andy Goeler, Bud Light’s vice president of marketing.
Bud Light has also launched its first NFT project, ‘Bud Light N3XT Collection’. The exclusive collection will feature 12,722 unique tokens, whose holders will have the opportunity to access exclusive benefits, including voting rights on future initiatives such as brand merchandising designs.
