The Guinness Brewing Company has given the green light for the worldwide launch of Cold Brew Coffee Beer. It is a new cold brew coffee beer and does so at a time when parent company Diageo is looking to expand the brand beyond pints of stout.
According to Guinness, the drink leverages the flavor of a pint of Guinness by adding cold brewed coffee. The beverage has about 2 mg of caffeine per can, about the same as a cup of decaffeinated coffee.
For Grainne Wafer, global brand director of Guinness: “The coffee notes that Guinness already has make the creation of the new cold-brewed coffee beer a natural step in our proud history of innovation”.
This initiative comes as part of a major expansion of the Guinness brand beyond the traditional pints for which it is known worldwide. In Great Britain, coffee was recently named the number one beverage by the British, surpassing tea with 95 million cups of coffee consumed each day.
