Ebner will lead the annual CMI strategic process for all internal and external communications programs.

Ebner comes to CMI from the American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA), where he served as communications director and press secretary overseeing media relations, communications and marketing campaigns promoting the association’s leadership in sustainability.

“Tim has a unique blend of experience as both a journalist and communications professional that will advance and create new energy through effective communications about the superior sustainability of metal can that reinforce or change buying and recycling behavior.” Budway said. “We are pleased to welcome Tim to the CMI team and look forward to his contributions.”

Prior to his tenure at AF&PA and ASAE, Ebner held a variety of roles in communications and journalism. This includes work as editorial manager and content editor at Atlantic Media, publisher of The Atlantic, and his role in launching e-books and digital publications at Editorial Projects in Education, publisher of Education Week.

Retiring in early August, CMI Vice President of Marketing and Communications and Chief Strategy Officer Sherrie Rosenblatt said, “I am very pleased that we have secured Tim’s expertise to lead CMI’s communications department’s efforts to ensure that all stakeholders are aware of the metal can industry’s commitment to making the most sustainable and best quality metal packaging.”
