Aluminum canned water gains space in the Brazilian market

The reduction in the use of plastics in Brazil has contributed to the booming market for water in aluminum cans. In addition, the country has a very high recycling rate of 98.7%, according to the Brazilian Aluminum Association (ABAL).

Anderson José Guerrero, in charge of Henkel’s Metal Packaging business in Latin America, explained that the established industrial processes that use tin to clean vended water are so strong that they remove all types of organic and inorganic impurities. Therefore, the unaltered water quality in terms of taste, color and odor remains unchanged.

“The canned container, in addition to being totally airtight, avoids the incidence of light, preventing any type of interference in the characteristics of the water, which is essential to ensure the quality of the product,” he commented.

The use of cans as packaging for food and beverages brings with it many benefits from an environmental point of view. If properly recycled, it can be ready for reuse in less than two months. In addition, water consumption in the industry for the production of packaging can be six times lower compared to other types, not to mention the reduction in energy use.

The German multinational has been operating since 1955 in Brazil in the areas of Adhesives, Sealants and Surface Treatment. In the Adhesive Technologies division, the company serves the aluminum can production chain from metal coils to finished product.
