Health authorities are urging buyers to carefully check the labels of canned beans they have at home, following the market withdrawal of a product distributed in 23 states in the United States.
The company Vietti Food Group, based in Nashville, Tennessee, has recalled 4,515 cases of its Yellowstone Brown Sugar Molasses beans due to the undeclared presence of soy in the ingredients list.
According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), consumption of this product poses a risk for people with allergies or sensitivity to this food.
Soy allergy primarily affects infants and young children, and it is estimated that around 0.4% of the U.S. population lives with this condition.
Vietti Food Group produces canned foods such as meats, chili, beef stews, and ready-to-eat soups. The company, founded in 1898, was acquired in 2011 by Zwanenberg Food Group USA, Inc., headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio.
