Universal Robots, the European manufacturer of collaborative robots (cobots), has decided to add a new cobot with a payload of 20 kg to its product range. The company made this clear at the Automática trade fair held recently in Munich.
2020 was the year Universal Robots launches the improved version of the UR20 cobot, a technology with 25 years of engineering experience. The UR20 is the best example yet of the drive for innovation in robot assistants for locations with highly refined work requirements. The new joint design allows for faster operation and additional flexibility.
Among the millions of advantages, these Euro pallets can be palletized at the same height as traditional pallets if both are the same length, only an expandability factor is required. This will have a major impact on processing and transportation. Commercially, this will mean lower costs and more flexibility for companies as companies will now be able to produce within a reduced space near the poles or stringers (europallets) without the need to use additional space.
Universal Robots expects the UR20 to be used not only for palletizing, but also for welding, due to the robot’s excellent mobility. It can also be used to guide materials and load them, even more so when companies implement their machines for innovative solutions with other Universal Robots partners.
Universal Robots president Kim Povlsen is excited about the launch of this new cobot that would be more innovative than any that exist to date. His company has engineered and designed the UR20 cobot, which has been reconfigured over 17 years of engineering experience. In addition, the power and technology of a UR20 are its strengths. It allows for increased load capacity to handle everything from larger cubic to smaller objects and is designed for heavy handling.
The manufacturer of the first robotic boxes, Universal Robots, launched the product in mid-2008. From that time until now, it has created a large ecosystem with 1,100 integrators creating parts for its robots. These are located in Belgium, where 2,000 are destined for this country.
The UR20 is the principle of machinery cobots (human-like robots) to facilitate the scientific experiments being developed by the company. This and all subsequent models have features that allow them to automate even the smallest element, or to do so completely independently.
“UR20 is not the end point. As the next step in automation, we want to bring better innovation features to an entirely new family of cobots. Our effort to create the best possible products reflects our commitment to each customer’s success, and the development of the UR20 is a perfect example of this commitment. We are committed to quality engineering, our impressive Scandinavian design and an excellent user experience from software to UR caps,” concludes the president of Universal Robots.
