The UK Trade Remedies Authority has announced its intention to impose provisional anti-dumping duties on aluminum extrusions originating in China.
The TRA opened an anti-dumping investigation in June 2021. The investigation covered aluminum bars, rods, profiles, tubes and pipes that entered the UK market during the investigation period.
It has recently found that the products under investigation have been sold on the UK market at prices below normal value, and that dumping has caused injury to UK producers. Therefore, TRA has announced its intention to impose provisional anti-dumping duties ranging from 9.5% to 128.2%.
Paul Warton, executive vice president and director of Hydro Extrusions confirms the decision and adds that “the TRA’s decision to impose provisional anti-dumping duties on Chinese aluminum extrusions is a very welcome remedial measure aimed at restoring fair competition and a level playing field in the UK market.”
However, the TRA investigation will continue and a final decision is expected within 6 months. At that time, the tariffs may be confirmed as final or modified, and will normally be in effect for 5 years.
