Hoffmann Neopac secures long-term CO2-reduced tinplate for thyssenkrupp Rasselstein

In cooperation with Hoffmann Neopac, thyssenkrupp Rasselstein GmbH has taken a further step towards climate neutrality. The two companies have signed a letter of intent that guarantees thyssenkrupp Rasselstein’s long-term supply of the new CO2-reducing bluemint® rasselstein® packaging steel. With the CO2-reduced material, Hoffmann Neopac will once again expand its product portfolio to include CO2-reduced cans.
Extension of steel supply for CO2-reduced containers
Following a successful joint project with herbal candy manufacturer Ricola in 2022, Hoffmann Neopac will use the agreed quantities of bluemint® rasselstein® to convert other customers to CO2-reduced tinplate packaging. Hoffmann Neopac supplies customers around the world with products in the baby food, pharmaceutical, cosmetics and wellness sectors.
The signed letter of intent means that both thyssenkrupp Rasselstein and Hoffmann Neopac play a key role in the climate-friendly steel value-added chain.
“CO2-reducing steel production is a major contributor to achieving our sustainability goals,” says CEO Dr. Peter Biele. thyssenkrupp aims to make its production climate-neutral by 2045 at the latest.
Production of cans with 100% renewable electricity
“Sustainability is at the core of everything we do. We are very pleased to have thyssenkrupp as a partner who wants to work with us on climate-neutral packaging,” explains Mark Aegler, CEO of Hoffmann Neopac. “We have already succeeded in implementing some CO₂-reduced packaging in the Hoffmann Neopac Group. We produce our cans and tubes in Switzerland with 100 % electricity from renewable sources while working on our own decarbonization program,” explains Mark Aegler.
