Ecuadorian authorities discovered a shipment of 950 blocks of alleged cocaine hidden inside tuna cans destined for France. The seizure occurred in a port south of Guayaquil during a coordinated operation between the National Police and the State Attorney General’s Office, which resulted in one person being arrested.

This case highlights an increasingly common practice: the use of metal packaging, especially canned goods, as hiding places for international drug trafficking. The ordinary appearance of the cans and their airtight seal make them an ideal vehicle for going unnoticed in border and customs controls.
