Multinational Trivium Packaging, a $2.7 billion international leader in metal packaging, has been awarded the ‘BEST IN CLASS Pac Global Award’ in the category of packaging innovation in technical design for its refillable bottles used in the Bubble Tree refillable bubble system. In a category that has seen little innovation in generations, the Bubble Tree Bubble System is the first sustainable refillable bubble bottle to be manufactured and sold in the US.
Precisely, Trivium worked with Bubble Tree to develop the refillable aluminum bubble bottle with an ergonomic grip that would contain the eco-friendly bubble formula and work efficiently with the easy-to-use refillable solution, which is released through a pour spout on the refillable aluminum bottle, allowing children to fill their bottles independently. The sustainable bottle also needed to work with an integrated wand in the cap to keep hands clean.
The aluminum bottle is manufactured using an impact extrusion manufacturing process, commonly used to produce aerosol-type containers. Trivium Packaging’s expert production team in Youngstown, OH, created the ergonomic shape combined with the “soft touch” on the varnish.
The refillable bubble system creates an opportunity for parents to discuss the “three Rs” (Reduce-Reuse-Recycle), instilling an environmentally conscious mindset at an early age. “Every step toward a more sustainable future is important. Throughout the process, the focus of the packaging has been on reducing the use of single-use plastic and ensuring the availability of material resources for generations to come,” says Jenny Wassenaar, vice president of sustainability at Trivium.”
“It is an honor to be recognized by the Pac Global Awards for our innovative and sustainable packaging. Our refillable, ergonomic aluminum bottles were intentionally designed, keeping the consumer experience at the forefront, while contributing to a healthier planet, reducing plastic waste and offering a fully recyclable, durable and attractive container that can be reused indefinitely,” concludes Bubble Tree founder and CEO Geoffrey Wasserman.
