Wetzel has been elected as the new general manager of KHS Sales and Service, as confirmed by the company’s supervisory board. It comes from the Mannesmann Stainless Tubes group, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of seamless stainless steel and nickel-based alloy tubes and pipes, to join the system supplier. He had already held several senior positions at KHS between 2011 and 2020, including his most recent position as head of the Services Division.
He now joins Kai Acker (CEO), Martin Resch (CFO Finance, Procurement and IT) and Beate Schäfer (CHRO) to complete the KHS Executive Management Board.
Tobias Wetzel will soon take up his new position as Director of Sales and Service on January 1, 2024.
“We are delighted that our Executive Management Board will again be complete when he returns to KHS. Tobias Wetzel already has extensive knowledge of our company with its diverse internal structures and processes. In addition, his knowledge, leadership qualities and many years of experience will help us to further strengthen our position in the global beverage market,” said Kai Acker, CEO of KHS. Wetzel returns to KHS from the Mannesmann Stainless Tubes Group in Mülheim, to which he had moved at the end of 2020 as managing director. “I look forward to a trusting cooperation with my colleagues and business partners. KHS stands for quality and total reliability. This is and always will be the basis on which we continue to increase customer satisfaction,” says Wetzel,” he said.
Wetzel, who recently assumed his new position, had held various leadership positions at a systems supplier in Dortmund for ten years. He started as head of RC Service Sales Support, then became executive vice president of Corporate Controlling and was eventually appointed head of the Services Division before leaving the company.
During his time there, he was also in charge of the production plant in Hamburg from April 2015 until August 2019, when it was still known as KHS Corpoplast GmbH (now KHS GmbH).
Before joining this supplier company, the graduate economist spent around ten years in different roles at Mannesmannröhren-Werke and has been working for Salzgitter AG – the company that owns both the turnkey supplier and the manufacturer – for more than 20 years.
After completing his Bachelor of Business Administration with an emphasis on general management at the Zeppelin University Friedrichshafen, Wetzel continued his education and earned a Master of Business Administration at the International University FOM, specializing in economics and management.
After graduating, he began working at Coca-Cola, where he stayed for more than three years and gained extensive experience in the beverage industry.
“With the Executive Management Board complete, we are perfectly poised for the future development of the KHS Group and to jointly provide key impetus for future growth,” Acker added.
