China-based multinational Novelis Aluminum Products Co., Ltd. has just obtained ASI Performance Standard V2 (2017) certification at its production plant in the national high-tech district of Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, China.
The plant produces lightweight, high-strength aluminum sheet for use in complete structural frames, as well as hoods, doors, fenders and many other components. Specifically, James Liu, General Manager of Novelis China and Vice President of Automotive for Novelis Asia stresses that “we are proud that Novelis’ Changzhou plant is now certified to meet ASI’s environmental, social and governance standards. Through continued collaboration with our customers and industry colleagues, Novelis looks forward to leading the sustainable development of the aluminum industry. We will continue to pursue further ASI certifications for both the Changzhou plant and our Zhenjiang plant, contributing to China’s national goals for a more sustainable and environmentally friendly transformation of its economic and social development.”
The ASI Performance Standard establishes 59 criteria under the three sustainability pillars of Governance, Environment and Social, which address key issues such as biodiversity, Indigenous Peoples’ rights and greenhouse gas emissions.
