Independent Can Company is commemorating its 95th anniversary, and remains a successful family business in the hands of its original owners.
The company was founded at South Howard and Ostend in Baltimore City during the early years of the Great Depression, producing and marketing cans to store lard, frozen eggs, fruits as well as fresh foods to meet the demand of the growing seafood industry.

For more than four decades, these simple products were the main foundation and strength that kept the company on its feet and in constant production.
The company, which was originally located in one location, has managed to grow and expand through an ambitious strategic expansion program with new acquisitions. It currently has five locations across the U.S., covering different areas such as manufacturing, metal lithography, office and warehouse space.

ICC is a world leader in metal printing and can manufacturing, serving diverse industries such as specialty foods, soft drinks, supplements, snacks, confectionery, industrial and military applications, health and beauty, among others.

Despite facing political and economic challenges in the marketplace over many years, the company has managed to stay afloat and even thrive. Thanks to its capacity for innovation and efficiency, the company has been able to overcome unexpected and significant events, such as the Great Recession and the 25% steel tariffs.
Now in its 95th year, the company is still family owned and operated, always focused on meeting the needs of its customers and employing around 400 workers.
