The Conserval Poctep project holds its final conference on March 15 in Santiago de Compostela. After three years of work, betting on the valorization of by-products and wastewater from the canning industry in the POCTEP area, the Conserval project will come to an end in early April.
During the final day, the results achieved will be presented in an event open to the public at the City of Culture located in Santiago de Compostela. The event can also be followed remotely.
The final conference will focus on the main milestones achieved by the consortium, the result of a multidisciplinary research work thanks to which innovative solutions and technologies have been developed and tested to enable the use of solid and liquid waste flows from the canning industry.
The event is divided into four blocks. During the first one, ‘Recovery of valuable products present in food industry streams’, the results of the project will be analyzed answering the question: what have we achieved? The project leader, Cetaqua, together with ANFACO-CECOPESCA and the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) will participate in this first section.
The second part of the event, also organized by Cetaqua, will focus on the CIGAT Biofactory project, to discover the shared synergies and also delve into the dairy and wine sectors.
The remaining blocks will address the opportunities for market transfer of the resulting technologies, as well as the perception and acceptance of end users of the resulting new products, with presentations given by FEUGA and USC, respectively. The day will conclude with a debate on the implementation of the circular economy in the food industry.
