The Government of Chubut in Argentina, through the Secretariat of Environment and Control of Sustainable Development, signed in the town of Las Plumas the agreement for the financing of the waste classification improvement project presented by the commune. The agreement was signed by the Secretary of Environment of Chubut, Juan José Rivera, and the communal chief of Las Plumas, Sergio Bowman.
The approved project includes the acquisition of a baler for recyclable waste, such as paper, cardboard, plastic bottles and aluminum cans, completing the recycling circuit initiated with the Recycling Station delivered in due course. This equipment will allow the rural commune to optimize the sorting process carried out by neighbors who come to the recycling station to discard their recyclable waste separately.
The “Chubut Sustentable” Program is a tool to financially assist municipalities and rural communities in the management of urban solid waste, the eradication of open dumps and the treatment of sewage effluents. In addition to the financial contributions, the program provides technical advice, accompaniment in the implementation and follow-up of the projects by specialized personnel of the Secretariat of Environment and Control of Sustainable Development of the province. The project approved for Las Plumas is added to those already implemented in the towns of Camarones and Rawson, strengthening the provincial commitment to environmental sustainability.
