Global magnetics group Buntin, one of the world’s leading designers and manufacturers of magnets, magnet assemblies and magnetisation equipment, has announced the acquisition of UK-based magnet manufacturer MagDev, expanding its range of magnetic solutions and technical expertise.
Swindon-based MagDev was part of the Delta Magnet group of companies. The facility has in-house testing and machining facilities as well as over 1,100 square meters (12,000 square feet) of warehouse space. MagDev is a leading manufacturer of custom magnets and industrial magnets specializing in the supply of permanent magnets, magnetic assemblies and soft magnetic solutions in various shapes, sizes and grades with magnetic properties tailored to specific applications.
According to Simon Ayling, European Managing Director of Bunting, the current demand for magnet application engineering has never been higher. We work with companies throughout the manufacturing sector, especially in the automotive, aerospace and electronics industries.
He also adds that This merger will bring together the combined magnet knowledge and expertise of Bunting and MagDev to create the UK’s largest team of magnetics experts and an unrivalled range of stock and bespoke magnets, magnetic assemblies and magnetisation systems. Both companies have the same philosophy of offering magnet expertise, high levels of quality, value for money and excellent customer service.
MagDev’s origins date back to 1973, when the company became part of the MMG group of companies in 1986. In August 2003, the merger of MMG GB and Magnet Developments in Swindon formed MMG MagDev. After the acquisition of MMG MagDev by Delta Magnets in June 2010, the company became part of the DMG group of companies.
With an experienced technical development team, MagDev can meet a wide range of magnetic material requirements, with both permanent and soft magnetic materials, either from standard parts stock or through custom development.
