DTE, the Icelandic innovator in metals analysis, has appointed Auður Árnadóttir as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). With an outstanding track record guiding startups through complex growth phases, Auður brings extensive experience in financial strategy, operational efficiency and international business, a key addition as DTE enters an accelerated stage of expansion.

Auður’s new position at DTE adds to his impressive track record of financial and executive roles in sectors ranging from genetics to renewable energy. Most recently, he served as CFO at Icelandic plant-based biotech company ORF Genetics, where he managed funds from Europe’s Horizon 2020 program, led a successful bond issuance and supported ongoing scaling efforts. Previously, he was CFO at Avania Data Center, Geysir Green Energy and its subsidiary Enex, as well as the skin care brand Bioeffect. His ability to optimize operations and foster growth in fast-paced industries aligns perfectly with DTE’s mission to revolutionize the aluminum industry.

Auður’s appointment brings valuable experience to DTE’s leadership team, which continues to grow in diversity and depth. She is the second woman on the executive team, joining Ásdís Virk Sigtryggsdóttir, who moved from Chief Operating Officer to Chief Commercial Officer in 2023. The team also includes Chairman of the Board, Sigríður Olgeirsdóttir, and Director of Engineering, Iðunn Arnardóttir, reflecting a dynamic mix of talent driving the company’s growth.

“We are delighted to welcome Auður Árnadóttir to the executive team,” commented Karl Ágúst Matthíasson, co-founder and CEO of DTE.

“With extensive experience in financial leadership, strategic growth, systems implementation and governance, Auður is the ideal executive to oversee our next phase of growth from an innovative startup to a major player in the aluminum industry. With Auður as CFO, we will be better prepared to handle the challenges that expansion inevitably brings. His experience in financial structuring of complex startups ensures that DTE remains financially sound and efficient as it makes this transition.”

“It is a privilege to join a company that is truly revolutionizing the aluminum industry,” expressed Auður Árnadóttir.

“With challenges such as increased protectionism, supply disruption and the urgent need for decarbonization, the industry needs innovative solutions like those offered by DTE to continue to meet unprecedented demand. I look forward to supporting DTE in developing a solid financial foundation as more producers and recyclers incorporate our technology into their processes.”

Founded in 2014, DTE is pioneering the digital transformation of the aluminum industry, making production safer, more cost-effective and less energy intensive. With its patented Liquid-Phase Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LP-LIBS™) technology, DTE enables real-time chemical analysis of molten metal. Combined with advanced artificial intelligence software, this technology identifies impurities or errors instantly, enabling proactive adjustments during the production process. By offering predictive insights, DTE solutions significantly improve process efficiency and reduce the time aluminum remains molten, optimizing energy consumption and operating costs.
