SUN CHEMICAL ANNOUNCES INNOVATIVE RANGE OF VARNISH SOLUTIONS TO IMPROVE THE STRENGTH OF HP INDIGO PRINTED LABELS
Sun Chemical has introduced an innovative new range of durable UV varnishes to enhance the strength of HP Indigo digitally printed pressure-sensitive labels for products such as beverage packaging, chemicals and pharmaceutical applications.
The new range of varnishes has been specifically formulated to provide adhesion to HP Indigo ElectroInk and is designed to provide high levels of mechanical durability on HP Indigo printed labels. In addition, the solution offers mechanical, chemical, water and thermal resistance that withstands bottle-to-bottle scratch tests, making the range ideal for ensuring high durability and, in some cases, offering a cost-effective and sustainability-enhancing alternative to cumbersome lamination processes. The new coatings promote cross-linking with HP Indigo ElectroInk and primer to provide enhanced physical properties and high durability in challenging applications.
Marcos Valdezate, Sun Chemical’s Global Business Development Manager for SunEvo™ Digital Coatings says, “We have been field testing with the HP Indigo community in many countries for a few months and the response has been phenomenal. Customers have questioned the durability of these coatings and have seen how durable they are. This is another great example of how varnish innovation can broaden the range of applications for digital printers and actively expand their offerings.”
The new varnish set is a press-ready solution and does not require the addition of any additives to the press for ease of use. The range, which ensures the durability of the labels time after time, can be printed with standard UV coating equipment. This solution has been tested on some of the most popular label substrates, such as white PP, clear PP and metallised substrates, ensuring a consistent level of performance.
