Spanish bottlers and supermarkets must implement, within two years (until 2026), a deposit, return and refund system (SDDR). The measure obliges consumers to return bottles at authorized points, such as supermarkets, in order to obtain a financial refund.
The deposit, return and refund system is already successfully in operation in several European countries and aims to increase the recycling rate and reduce waste going to landfill.
Spain, for the moment, fails to comply with the regulation in the field of plastics with a lower recycling rate than required.
The company Lealtad Verde Soluciones 360 has already proposed its biorecycling machines, which will be key to compliance with Law 07/2022 in Spain.
Lealtad Verde’s SDDR biorecycling machines are an innovative solution for the treatment of SUB bottles and aluminum cans in Spain. These compact and efficient machines can be installed in shopping malls, supermarkets, parks, schools, universities, offices, public transportation stations, airports, gas stations, hospitals, government buildings and sports complexes. The use of SDDR biorecycling machines promotes recycling, educates and raises public awareness of the importance of responsible waste management, contributing to the circular economy by reintegrating materials into the production cycle.
Among the benefits highlighted is the machines’ ability to collect real-time data on the waste managed. This information, available on the app, includes details on the amount of products returned and a digital wallet that shows the payments generated by the materials deposited, as well as the positive impact on reducing the carbon footprint.
