The expert company in the production of metal cans Auxiliar conservera, together with the local government of Molina de Segura and the Athletics Federation of the Region of Murcia, held the thirty-first edition of the Running Challenge 2023 sporting event.


Last weekend, a new race took place in the circuit of popular races “Región de Murcia Running Challenge 2023”. Specifically, the II Carrera Solidaria Auxiliar Conservera “Memorial Pedro Vicente Cascales”, with solidarity being the main theme of the race. This year, all proceeds went to benefit AFACMUR.
The organization of the event offered participants the option of choosing between two distances in the competitive section, approximately 5 and 10km. There was also the opportunity to participate in a non-competitive 3km walk, starting and finishing in the vicinity of Auxiliar Conservera, following the course of the Segura River. This event was organized by the Molina company, an expert in the manufacture of metal containers, with the collaboration of the City Council of Molina de Segura and the Athletics Federation of the Region of Murcia.


The overall winner of the 10 km race was Alberto Sánchez, member of the C.T. Arabí Yecla team and Master 35 category, with a time of 30:54. He was followed on the podium by Raúl Martínez, from the A.D.A. Abarán and Senior category, with a time of 31:18; and José Vicente González, also from C.T. Arabí Yecla but in Master 40 category, with a time of 31:56. In the women’s competition, the victory went to Merce Martínez of C.T. Arabí Yecla in the Master 40 category with a final time of 40:32. She was followed by Elisabeth Mira of the A.D.A. Abarán A.D.A. team in the Master 50 category with a time of 42:31. Third place went to Nuria Pastor of the TCA Automation team in the Senior category with a final time of 42:58.


As for the 5km, the fastest man was Roberto Castellón, from the Archena SIPCAM Triathlon Team, with a time of 15 minutes. He was followed on the podium by Santiago Bujeque, from Grupo Alcaraz, with 15:22 and Jesús Joaquín Barba, from A.D.A. Abarán, with a time of 15:38. In the women’s category, the winner was Pili Cánovas from Club Atlético Nogalte – Hogar Puerto Lumbreras (20:43), followed by Eva María Castellar from C.D. Diablos (21:25) and Mireya Guijarro from Triatlón Guerrita Alcantarilla (22:06).
