The American company Sceptre will supply Novelis with more than 200,000 tonnes of aluminium ingots with up to 95 percent recycled content. This was recently announced by the Waverly, Tennessee-based secondary aluminum recycling and marketing company. Novelis will then roll-form and finish the aluminium ingot with high recycled content for its customers who manufacture aluminium beverage cans and food packaging in the USA.

Garney Scott, Scepter’s CEO, notes that in doing so, the company is committed to using more scrap, reducing emissions and contributing to the overall sustainability of aluminum. “In this way, our unique technology and capabilities will produce high quality ingots that meet the bold sustainable goals set by Novelis. We’re excited to partner with them.

“Novelis’ purpose is to shape a sustainable world together, which recognizes the importance of working with partners across the industry to promote sustainability for our customers,” adds Tom Boney, executive vice president and president of Novelis North America.

Through this agreement, both companies will be able to reduce 1.2 million tonnes of carbon compared to the use of raw base sheet ingots, which will significantly improve the sustainability goals of both companies. The company produces recycled products at facilities in the United States, Canada and Europe.
