The City Council of Sanlúcar de Barrameda (Cádiz, Spain), in collaboration with Ecoembes, is launching a new public awareness campaign to promote the recycling of packaging in the yellow container.
The delegate of Environment, Carmen Pozo, says that this initiative has the slogan ‘Recycle and join the movement of the circular economy’. The campaign includes a program of activities, among which is the so-called Escape Room of the Circular Economy and Recycling, which has been held in the last days of December and early January, although there are also scheduled visits to a waste treatment plant on 13 and 20 January.
For four weeks an environmental educator will walk the streets of Sanlúcar house to house informing about the separation of waste in households. There will also be a small survey to check the degree of knowledge of the people of Sanlúcar regarding the selective separation of household waste, focusing on the use of the yellow container, in which only metal containers, plastic containers and brik type containers should be deposited.
The neighbors will receive a reusable cotton bag to reduce the consumption of plastic bags, as well as an information sheet about the selective waste separation containers, an information sheet made of seed paper, so that it can be planted after reading it, thus exemplifying what circular economy means.
This campaign is based on the need to move from a consumption model focused on a linear economy to a circular economy in which the recycling of household packaging plays a fundamental role.
