The Dutch beverage company, Royal Swinkels, has started local production of its malt-based carbonated soft drink, Bavaria Smalt, in Kenya. The plant, located in Nairobi, has an operational capacity to produce approximately 1,500 cases, equivalent to 36,000 bottles per day.
Philip Njoroge, Royal Swinkels regional manager for East Africa, said the decision to produce Bavaria Smalt in the country is in line with the brand’s commitment to expand its presence in the region, while contributing to job creation and sustainable production within the local economy.
“We are excited to bring Bavaria Smalt to Kenya, a product that aligns with the preferences of today’s health-conscious consumers.”commented Njoroge.
“Furthermore, by producing Bavaria Smalt locally, we are not only providing a quality beverage, but also creating job opportunities, thus supporting the Kenyan economy.”
Bavaria Smalt is already available in supermarkets and retail stores throughout the country. Njoroge emphasized that the company uses locally manufactured raw materials, such as sugar, supporting Kenya’s economy through local production and industries.
