The Australian brand Rosella has turned 130 years old, being a symbol of local flavor and shared moments in thousands of homes, thanks to iconic products such as its tomato sauce and its fruit chutney.
Rosella’s story began in 1895, when two friends from Carlton founded a small company dedicated to fruit preserves and sauces. They chose the name Rosella inspired by the bird of the same name, known for its ability to choose the ripest fruits, an image that still represents the brand today.
A decade later, in 1905, the company opened its first production plant in Melbourne. Over time, it expanded its national presence with new factories in Adelaide, Sydney, and Hobart.
In 2013, the company was acquired by Sabrands Australia, a family-owned firm that has managed to preserve Rosella’s essence while maintaining its commitment to genuine flavors.
“We are very proud to celebrate these 130 years, a milestone that reflects Rosella’s deep connection with Australian families”, said Sandy Lo Piccolo, senior brand manager at Sabrands. “Since our beginnings, products like fruit chutney continue to be much loved. Our tomato sauce, made exclusively with tomatoes grown in Australia, stands out for its quality and authentic flavor. Rosella has managed to adapt over time, incorporating new offerings and remaining a close and reliable brand”.
Today, in addition to its classics, Rosella offers a variety of products including soups, organic sauces, chutneys, and other condiments.
To celebrate this important date, the brand has launched limited anniversary editions of its most representative products, which will be available at points of sale starting in May.
