The Beverage Can Association has launched a digital comic for International Recycling Day. This entity, which brings together can manufacturers and distributors in Spain and Portugal, has created this educational material to promote environmental awareness among citizens.
The comic can now be downloaded in high resolution from the Enlatados blog, available on the Association’s website. The content aims to explain, in a simple and visual way, how beverage cans can have multiple lives if recycled correctly.
This action is part of the activities organized during the celebration of the 90th anniversary of the can packaging. The Association wants to reinforce the message that recycling is a necessary practice with a great positive impact on the environment.
The story is especially designed for younger audiences. The Association explains that they wanted to offer an educational resource that showed how a can can be reused if deposited in the yellow container.
Cans are made of aluminum, a permanent material that does not lose quality, even if recycled many times. Moreover, recycling a can saves up to 95% of the energy that would be needed to manufacture it from scratch. The Association trusts that schools, educational centers, and institutions will use this comic as an awareness tool.
