PPG has appointed Rodolfo Ramirez as general manager of its Global Packaging Coatings division, effective April 1. Ramirez was previously general manager of global coatings services in PPG’s industrial coatings business. In his new role, he will be responsible for the overall strategic and operational direction of the container coatings business, taking over responsibility from Amy Ericson, who has moved to a new role in PPG’s protective and marine coatings business.
Ramirez will partner with customers to build strong relationships while driving innovative solutions for reliable and sustainable inner liners and brilliant outer liners in the Beverage, Food and Personal Care segments.
“I am very pleased to welcome Rodolfo to this important role,” said Kevin Braun, PPG vice president, global Industrial Coatings “With his strong commercial background, knowledge of packaging coatings, rich history of managing large global accounts and proven leadership ability, he is well positioned to lead the business to continued success.”
Ramirez began his career with PPG in 2003 in the Automotive OEM Mexico business. He advanced through roles in Automotive OEM, Packaging Coatings and Industrial Coatings in both Latin America and the United States before assuming his most recent role in coatings services in 2021. He holds a degree in industrial and manufacturing engineering from the Universidad Iberoamericana de México.
“I look forward to working with industry stakeholders to deliver sustainable solutions to the packaging industry and to show the industry how capable PPG is of creating mutual value through innovation,” Ramirez said.
