Denver will be the site of the new plant that the multinational Pepsi, one of the world’s largest beverage companies, will build in the United States and which will be one of the largest in the country.
For the ambitious project, the multinational acquired approximately 152 acres of land near Denver International Airport for the construction of the planned new manufacturing plant with an estimated investment of 1.2 million square feet. This huge facility will be inaugurated next year. The new plant will have the added goal of achieving 100% renewable electricity, best-in-class water efficiency and reduced plastic use.
The Denver City Council approved Pepsi’s project to build its new headquarters with a $1 million contribution. The agreement states that as Pepsi builds the facility and adds new jobs, the city will pay the company in cash in installments. The city expects to make payments over a period of several years until the site is completed.
Pepsi, which came to Denver in 1971, will move its old Brighton Boulevard plant back to RiNo, Denver. The 250 employees at the current headquarters will move to the new headquarters, with an additional 250 jobs at salaries of around $65,000 per year.
The project could bring in nearly $6 million in additional revenue to the city’s general fund over a five-year period, which translates to $11 million over a decade.
