The Pacific Fishing Company (PAFCO), based in Levuka, Fiji, has begun globally marketing its new canned tuna, Lomaiviti Special, a traditional recipe that combines albacore tuna with coconut cream. The product, a staple in the local diet alongside roots such as taro or cassava, is distinguished by its creamy texture and mild flavor, offering a unique proposition within the international canned tuna market.

According to Saiyad Raiyum, CEO of PAFCO, this combination represents an innovation in the industry and seeks to bring Fijian culinary tradition to consumers worldwide.

PAFCO, recognized for its commitment to sustainability and quality, has received the Excellence in Fisheries award at the Fijian Prime Minister’s International Business Awards 2024, highlighting its success in exports and responsible practices.

With this launch, the company aims to expand its presence in international markets, leveraging trade agreements such as the Economic Partnership Agreement with Europe to facilitate access to new consumers for its products.
