Following the Formula 1 Brazilian Grand Prix on November 5, it has been announced that Novelis and Coopercaps will work together to recycle 6 tons of aluminum cans that were used during the event.
At the event held at the José Carlos Pace racetrack (Interlagos), the packages were collected in all areas of the site using vehicles called tuk-tuks, which run on electricity. The collected materials will be sent to the Novelis Collection Center in São Paulo and will then be transferred to the plant located in Pindamonhangaba, considered the largest aluminum recycling and rolling complex in the world. The proposal, in addition to providing economic and social benefits to recycling employees, will allow these containers to return to the market for reuse within approximately 60 days.
The collaboration between the company Coopercaps and Novelis South America in the creation of a collection during a racing event is very valuable for them. It was a long process that involved many cooperative members working together, and the result of recycling 6 tons of aluminum cans is a success.
In addition to the positive impact on the circular economy, its focus on cooperatives is important because of the socio-economic impact on the workers involved in recycling materials. According to Gustavo Faria, senior manager of Novelis South America’s Metal Business.
