British distributor North South Wines has announced the acquisition of the wine brand When in Rome, strengthening its portfolio of sustainable wines and alternative formats. The operation brings together two B Corp certified companies, which share values of sustainability, transparency, and quality.
The company plans to leverage its distribution network and industry expertise to expand the presence of When in Rome, providing consumers with wider access to high-quality wines with a low environmental impact.
Kim Wilson, Managing Director of North South Wines, stated: “We are delighted to welcome When in Rome to our family. Their innovative approach and commitment to sustainability fit perfectly with our philosophy. Together, we will expand the brand’s reach and continue to challenge traditional standards in the wine industry.”
When in Rome was founded with the aim of introducing quality Italian wines to the British market and is recognized for its innovative alternative packaging, including cans, bag-in-box, and paper bottles, significantly reducing carbon emissions compared to conventional glass bottles.
Rob Malin, founder of the brand, commented: “We couldn’t have found a better home. I am confident that under the direction of North South Wines, When in Rome will have a bright future. These are difficult times for small players in the sector, and this operation offers an exciting path for the brand we created with such pride.”
The current When in Rome team will continue to be involved in the development of the brand to maintain its authenticity and passion, while North South Wines will drive its growth through increased investment in marketing, expanded distribution, and new collaborations with independent Italian producers.
Consumers can soon expect to enjoy an expanded selection of products, new collaborations, and continued innovation in sustainable packaging.
