Segovia will participate in the International Recycling Tour with a giant mural of recycled cans on the occasion of World Environment Day, June 5. This campaign is part of the European program ‘Every Can Counts’, ‘Cada Lata Cuenta’ in Spain, which seeks to raise awareness of the importance of recycling in public spaces.

Among the activities programmed in the capital of Segovia is the creation of a pixelata (an artistic mural made with beverage cans) in the Avenida del Acueducto, next to the church of San Clemente. Also, several environmental educators equipped with collection backpacks will tour the historic center of the city to encourage citizens to recycle their beverage cans and keep their environment clean.

‘Every Can Counts’ is a program that promotes the recycling of beverage cans at events and public spaces, to boost the circular economy and reduce CO2 emissions. The objective is none other than to involve all citizens in order to achieve a 100% recycling rate for these cans.

The International Recycling Tour, which will be held for the second consecutive year in Spain, will take place simultaneously in 17 countries. In addition to Segovia, other European cities such as Amsterdam, Belgrade, Brussels, Bucharest, Budapest, Dublin, Florence, Paris, London and Vienna will participate. Also, for the first time, two non-European cities will take part: Rio de Janeiro and Bogota.
