Drinktec, the world’s leading trade fair for the beverage and liquid food industry, will take place on the grounds of Messe München from September 12-16, 2022. The business and technology fair will present the latest products, services, trends and innovations in vegetable proteins, oils and fats.

Reinhard Pfeiffer, the managing director responsible for the event, confirms drinktec is the undisputed leading trade fair in the industry: “After we had to postpone drinktec from 2021 to 2022, the anticipation from exhibitors is enormous, which is reflected in the positive responses. Everyone is very excited to be able to present their products to customers from all over the world live here in Munich again at last. The fact that the top players are here in Munich impressively underlines the importance of drinktec.”

In spite of the current delicate economic situation, Pfeiffer noted that “of course, the last two years have also left their mark on this industry. However, we expect around 1,000 exhibitors to showcase their innovations and solutions along the entire value chain in a total of 12 halls on our exhibition grounds. And if our conversations with our customers are anything to go by, they’ll have a lot to show for it.”

In this new and eagerly awaited edition, the industry meeting will also play a key role and will therefore be dedicated to the war in Ukraine. The effects of this are being felt around the world. They show that a safe, diverse and sustainable supply of oils, fats and proteins is not a matter of course and these challenges will be addressed in a comprehensive support program.

This year, the oil and fat industry will play a central role in food safety. Therefore, the availability of edible oils, especially sunflower oil, has made headlines in the daily press. On the popularity scale, sunflower oil follows rapeseed oil. The issues, the need for action and the resulting perspectives will be the focus in Munich.

Politicians are also called upon to establish the right framework conditions for producers, retailers and service providers to fulfill their tasks in terms of supply. This applies to the field of energy security, market and price developments, as well as to the issue of sustainability or the future use of biofuels. This political dimension gives Oils + Fats additional importance as an international industry summit this year.

Alongside drinktec, numerous special events and meeting opportunities such as the 8th DGF Education Course in English from September 13-14, the Protein and Oils symposium or the Oilseed Forum 2022 will take place.
