The multinational Molson Coors Beverage Company has announced its intention to close the Sharp’s Brewery plant, located in Rock (Cornwall, United Kingdom), before the end of 2026. The measure, which must still undergo a consultation process, could result in the loss of approximately 50 jobs at the production facility.
The company justifies the decision based on the current beer market context, which it describes as changing and increasingly demanding. According to the company, the closure is part of a broader review of its UK operations aimed at optimizing costs and adapting its structure to the evolution of consumption and the category.
Although the plant would cease operations, Molson Coors has indicated that it maintains its commitment to the brands historically linked to Sharp’s and is exploring alternatives to ensure their continuity within its production network.
The potential closure has generated concern in the local area and in the British brewing sector, where the facility is considered a regional benchmark. The consultation process will determine the next steps before the decision becomes final.
