MISS THAILAND MAKES AN IMPACT AT MISS UNIVERSE PAGEANT WITH DRESS MADE FROM ALUMINUM CAN RINGS
Miss Universe Thailand 2022, Anna Suengam-iam, surprised all and sundry during the Miss Universe 2022 preliminary competition by parading in a ball gown made from aluminum can rings. The young Thai girl wanted in this original way to pay tribute to her parents who had spent years making a living collecting garbage, as well as to her friends and schoolmates who called her ‘Miss Garbage’.
The curious thing is that her origins do not cause embarrassment to the 23-year-old. Sueangam-iam chose this garment made from beverage can rings as her main material whose creation she christened the hidden precious diamond dress. Other materials were also used, such as hundreds of Swarovski crystals that gave the garment that special sparkle.
A total of 84 aspirants participated in the Miss Universe 2023 gala at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans. On this occasion, the crown went to Miss United States, R’bonney, while Amanda Dudamel, from Venezuela, won the title of vice-queen. The second runner-up was Miss Dominican Republic, Andreína Martinez.
