Noted mathematician Ken Ono is an expert in number theory. He solved Ramunajan’s partition congruences, including helping to solve the threshold moonlight conjecture, one of the most complex mathematical problems. Now, Miller64 has recruited him to star in its new campaign and solve another disturbing, high-stakes equation.
After Anheuser-Busch announced the launch of its carbohydrate-free, 80-calorie Bud Light Next beer, Miller64, a 64-calorie beer, conducted a national survey across the United States asking consumers which number is lower, 64 or 80.
“I’ve seen a lot of complicated mathematical equations in my career and worked to solve some of the most complex integer partitions and modular forms, but what I can’t understand is why anyone would think 80 is smaller than 64,” says Ono who finally stresses that “64 is certainly smaller than 80.”
“Not only have we found the right answer to which number is lower, we’ve also found the perfect recipe for an extra light beer with Miller64. It doesn’t take a genius to do the math, but we’re glad Ken Ono was able to help us prove we were right,” says Sofia Colucci, vice president of global marketing for Millers.
Anheuser-Busch has touted a project with the potential to change the entire brewing industry, and will be one of the company’s “big bets” for 2022.
