Markem-Imaje has launched MB2253, a new MEK-based black ink developed specifically for applications in the beverage industry. This new product has been formulated in accordance with the strictest regulatory requirements, ensuring both consumer safety and regulatory compliance for manufacturers.
The MB2253 ink stands out for its high versatility, as it allows effective marking on multiple types of substrates used in beverage packaging, including plastics, metals, glass, and returnable bottles. It offers excellent adhesion and durability, even under demanding conditions such as extreme cold condensation and water immersion.
Among its main characteristics are its high alkaline solubility and water resistance, qualities that make it especially suitable for the life cycle of returnable glass bottles.
Product safety has been a priority in its development. Therefore, MB2253 complies with indirect food contact regulations, offering peace of mind to consumers and ensuring reliability for producers. Its manufacture is carried out in a plant certified under the BRC global standard, following EuPIA guidelines for inks applied to packaging surfaces without direct food contact.
Additionally, all components of this ink comply with:
- The Swiss Ordinance 817.023.21 concerning materials in contact with food (version 2.1 of December 2020).
- Title 21 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) of the US FDA, which regulates indirect food additives.
The MB2253 is compatible with a wide range of Markem-Imaje continuous inkjet printers (CIJ), including models 9750, 9750+, 9750 Xp, 9750 Xp+ and 9712.
