A LINDAL Group company, specializes in aerosol handling and has a global presence, has sought to diversify its operations with a stake in a U.S. company called B4Plastics, which is based primarily in Brussels, and develops biopolymeric materials.
B4Plastics, a polymer architecture company that catalyzes the introduction of new biomaterials and grow them from large economy to market applications, designs and scales materials to give the best balance between function, ecology and cost. The company has a strong vision on how to bridge the gap between laboratory-based research and commercial implementation. B4Plastics has also received numerous awards for its achievements, including the Food Planet Award in 2021. It was also one of the few start-ups selected to receive funding from the European Innovation Council (EIC).
For its part, Lindal S.A. will be a major investor in order to finance its future growth, accompanied by EIC (Empresa Iberoamericana de Construcción). Lindal, in addition to being an investor, will take active roles in the partnership to strengthen its sustainability agenda and contribute more comprehensively to the reduction of material waste and CO2 globally.
You will also benefit from B4Plastics’ expertise and research on sustainable materials for your core products, while gaining access to broader knowledge networks that identify new opportunities for future research and development projects. In addition, it will support B4Plastics in its next phase of development, providing access to its global innovation capabilities and worldwide manufacturing and engineering expertise.
LIPAL President Katharina Lilienthal says that this new investment by LINDAL means a comprehensive approach to systematically address the challenges of sustainability. “This new investment by LINDAL signifies our broad approach to actively addressing sustainability challenges. We are excited and inspired by this new venture as a sustainability enabler for the plastics industry, and as a complementary approach to LINDAL’s existing sustainability initiatives,” he added.
For his part, Lipal CEO Francois Xavier-Gilbert stressed from the outset that they wanted to work with a partner active with the development of alternative materials. “We wanted to work together with a partner active in the development of alternative packaging materials. B4Plastics fits into an excellent niche as a pioneer of biodegradable materials. B4Plastics has already secured an impressive customer base and has attracted widespread international interest in its technology. Together, we enjoy a number of benefits and synergies that form an excellent start to our partnership,” he remarked.
Finally, Stefaan De Wildeman, the founder of B4Plastics, concluded by saying that the only way forward was to find an industrial partner and lead investor with operational capabilities, technical expertise and long-term vision. So the company partnered with LINDAL because it had what they were looking for.
