Innovation and efficiency in metal decoration. These are the hallmarks of the new Metal Star 4 from Koenig & Bauer. Seven years after the market launch of MetalStar 3, of which more than 400 printing units have been installed worldwide, now comes this new product that aims to become a benchmark for performance in metal decoration.
In addition to a renewed design, MetalStar 4 incorporates pioneering technology in order to meet the growing demand of the metal decorating market. New features include new functions and improvements to the feeder, state-of-the-art measuring technology as well as new functions for production monitoring and improved ergonomics.
What remains unchanged, however, is the MetalStar technology, such as the short, dynamic inking and dampening unit, the high-precision register printing thanks to the sheet travel in the gripper lock, and the extensive automation functions that reduce makeready times to a minimum.
Some of the major innovations of the MetalStar 4 are in the feeder. Metal printing upgrades such as new sensors, blow tubes, newly designed scrapers and adjustments to the feed table significantly increase the reliability of the feeder, complete with a new touch panel where air can be set up and stored for each job.
The ErgoTronic console is the heart of the MetalStar 4. Thanks to the clear and modern software, the operation of the MetalStar 4 is intuitive. All settings are also made via a 23-inch touchscreen. The MetalControl inline color control system reduces color set-up times and ensures color consistency throughout the process. In addition, MetalControl supports the operator in setting the color for the print job. You can also set target densities fully automatically on a print run, using a sandwich process.
In terms of automation, MetalStar 4 continues to lead the metal decorating market. Features such as parallel blanket and impression cylinder washing with CleanTronic Synchro or parallel washing of the inking unit during blanket washing with DriveTronic SRW ensure the shortest makeready times in metal decorating. The fully automatic plate change FAPC is now even faster and features a new feed system that significantly improves stability. Finally, each MetalStar 4 is customized to the customer’s needs and application.
