Koenig & Bauer has created the first digital printing press integrated into a production line for decorating metal packaging. The machine will begin a field test in early 2025 in cooperation with Reynolds Services, Inc.
The tool is called MetJET ONE. The basis of the combines proven components of digital printing as well as sheet handling and system engineering for metal decorating: The sheet handling system is manufactured by Koenig & Bauer MetalPrint, an expert in this field, while the integrated inkjet technology is based on a multi-pass printing unit from Durst, one of the leading players in the digital printing industry.
“The MetJET ONE will make it easy for producers to digitally print metal,” explains Samuel Teufel, product manager at Koenig & Bauer MetalPrint, adding that the unique design allows us to create a customized solution that fits the flexibility and print quality requirements of every producer in the metal packaging industry.
Thanks to the very attractive price-performance ratio and outstanding print quality, standards in metal decorating are being redefined. The modularity of the MetJET ONE allows flexible customization and design of the entire production line to meet the demands of the packaging industry.
The line can be equipped with all materials from the same company Koenig & Bauer MetalPrint. The MetalCoat coating machine, inspection conveyor for image verification (and overprint varnish) and sheet management systems for reliable sheet ejection are just some of the possible features with which efficiency and profitability can be maximized on the MetJET ONE.
The field test, which will begin early next year at RSI, is a crucial step in validating the machine’s performance and reliability under real operating conditions.
