JOSÉ CARLOS THE BRAZILIAN RECYCLER WHO SELLS CANS AND DONATES THE PROCEEDS TO A CANCER HOSPITAL

There are people who are always thinking about how to help their community. This is the case of Brazilian José Carlos. His solidarity has crossed borders and has gone viral in networks. At 59 years of age, José works as a security guard and in his spare time he collects and recycles containers.

In the city of Rondônia, where he lives, José decided to sell the cans he recycled and donate the money to the local Hospital de Amor. This hospital specializes in treating cancer patients.

Thanks to the work that José has been doing for years, he has managed to raise more than $24,600, money that he has donated to the hospital center to fight cancer, his last donation being more than $7,500. Recently, the Boticário Group Foundation decided to pay tribute to him for his help to the community by naming him winner in the ‘Friend of the Environment’ category of last year’s Razoes Para Acreditar (Reasons to Believe) Awards.
