The largest mobile cannery in the U.S. has just announced a new expansion. Iron Heart Canning Company, a mobile beverage packager serving breweries, cideries, wineries, distilleries, co-packing facilities and soft drink producers that has acquired NorthStar Mobile Canning and the mobile canning operations of Lagersmith Canning Co. which both served the Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minn. craft beverage market. Lagersmith Canning Co. will continue to operate its consumable supply business independently, offering cans with shrink sleeves, gloss cans, ends, case trays and PakTechs.
Tyler Wille, founder and CEO of Iron Heart Canning notes, “We are excited about the opportunity to bring our industry-leading canning services and expertise to the Upper Midwest. Minnesota is an incredible market in the craft industry and our goal is to foster and grow the partnerships that NorthStar and Lagersmith have in place. We are also eager to begin building new partnerships within the region.”
Iron Heart Canning launched in 2013, just as the canned beer craze was taking off. “We wanted to be pioneers, offering premium and cost-effective mobile packaging solutions on a small scale, which in turn has helped craft producers break down market barriers in an industry long dominated by large macro brands,” adds Wille who reiterates that “through our program of excellence in seaming, dissolved oxygen testing, in-house lab capabilities and dedicated internal resources to continually advance our expertise, our goal is to offer a solution that is more valuable than owning an in-house line.” With the acquisition of the two Twin Cities canning operations, Iron Heart now operates more than 75 canning lines in 26 U.S. states.
