For yet another year, recycling ambassadors are once again donning backpacks, as well as impressive beverage can murals ready to transform public spaces into sustainability showcases in 16 countries. Every Can Counts, the leading non-profit recycling organization is back to launch the third edition of the International Recycling Tour, an inspiring awareness campaign designed to celebrate World Environment Day and champion the cause of sustainable living in a clear and resounding commitment to a more circular world.

This impactful recycling initiative will take place in 16 countries and will cover 18 locations in Europe and Brazil on June 5, with events extending throughout the previous weekend. From bustling metropolises to urban parks, vibrant beaches and famous festivals, dedicated tour ambassadors will embark on a mission to promote the message, “Beverage cans recycle forever” and encourage people to do their part to enable a truly circular economy.

In addition, their eye-catching backpacks, symbolizing the campaign’s goal of inspiring “on-the-go” recycling, will serve as beacons of environmental awareness, capturing the attention of passersby while inviting them to recycle their empty cans on the spot.

“As we come together to celebrate World Environment Day and embrace the infinite potential of aluminum recycling, our goal is to inspire behavior change and help achieve 100% can recycling in Europe and beyond. That’s why we invite everyone – consumers, local authorities, brands and event organizers – to join forces and find better ways to recycle on the go, while having fun doing it.”said David Van Heuverswyn, director of Every Can Counts Europe.
Building on the success of previous editions, this year’s International Recycling Tour features #PixelCan pop-up installations that will be presented in iconic locations from the banks of the Danube in Vienna and Budapest to Dun Laoghaire Dock in Dublin. Participating countries have partnered with talented local street artists to create unique mural themes inspired by World Environment Day.

The award-winning PixelCan is an exclusive Every Can Counts innovation made from 2,000 beverage cans, arranged to form stunning pixelated murals. These impressive works of art not only captivate viewers from a distance, but also serve as a symbol of the endless possibilities of aluminum recycling.

Visitors to the facility are encouraged to share their own photos and videos of the #PixelCan on social media, using the hashtag #IRT2023. In doing so, they become part of the broader movement, spreading awareness about touring and inspiring others to adopt sustainable practices. The nations participating in this inspiring initiative include Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Czech Republic, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Spain and the United Kingdom.
